Alternatives to dental implants

Traditional crown and bridge solutions and partially or fully removable dentures are examples of alternatives to dental implants.

Bridge replacementConventional replacement treatments usually involve grinding down healthy adjacent teeth to support the bridge. Traditional bridges can be enamel-retained, tooth-supported or clasp-retained. These solutions do not stimulate the underlying bone, which can result in withering away of bone tissue and receding gums. Dental implants, on the other hand, are anchored in the jawbone, stimulating bone tissue just like natural teeth.

Dentures can be a source of discomfort and insecurity if they are loose or ill fitting and they often require an adhesive to stay in place.
